John Forslund, the long-time Carolina Hurricanes play-by-play announcer who now calls the Kraken games out in Seattle, will be making his season debut for Warner Bros. Discovery Sports this Sunday for the Heritage Classic.
Previously, for nationally televised action, Forslund has called a few games for WBD in the regular season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs, along with some bubble games in 2020 for NBC Sports, and most notably calling the 2017 Centennial Classic between the Red Wings and Maple Leafs for NBC.
For Sunday, Kenny Albert will be occupied with calling the Vikings-Packers game on FOX, which gives Forslund the nod for Sunday’s Heritage Classic. In addition, this will also be the first NHL outdoor game Forslund has called.
As a reminder, Sunday’s Heritage Classic will be airing on TBS at 7:00 PM ET as TNT has USWNT obligations. This will be the first regular season NHL games to air on TBS under this current television deal.
John actually did the Centennial classic in Toronto for NBC in 2017
Edited and fixed! Thank you for pointing that out!
