Thursday marked the opening two games of this year’s NCAA Men’s Frozen Four, and unlike viewership for the regional rounds, the Frozen Four suffered from some viewership declines.
Beginning the day was Denver and Boston University at 5:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The Pioneers’ overtime win averaged 232,000 viewers, down 17% vs. last year’s comparable game, Boston University-Minnesota (279K).
Moreover, the latter half of Thursday’s Frozen Four was Michigan and Boston College at 9:10 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Boston College’s lopsided 4-0 win averaged 373,000 viewers, down 14% in viewership vs. last year’s comparable game, Michigan-Quinnipiac (435K).
Overall, Thursday’s NCAA Men’s Frozen Four averaged 294,000 viewers across both games, down 17% vs. last year (355K).
The 2024 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four championship game will be on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2. John Buccigross (play-by-play), Colby Cohen (analyst), and Taylor Tannebaum (reporter) will be on the call from St. Paul.
